OUR HISTORY

1985

Beginning

Our history began in 1985 as a small Artisanal Distillery on the "Casa Nova" farm, owned by our founder Mr. Gláucio Augusto de Souza, located in the rural area of Lavras, southern Minas Gerais. The distillery underwent improvements in its infrastructure to increase production capacity.

1995

``Gláucio's Cachaça``

Production started in a simple manner. However, due to its quality, the beverage quickly became well-known in the city of Lavras as the famous "Gláucio's Cachaça". As a result, it was necessary to expand the distillery to meet the market demand.

2011

``Tonel de Minas``

In 2010, our small cachaça distillery transformed into a company, requiring a higher level of professionalism. In 2011, André Luís Chalfoun de Souza, son of Mr. Gláucio Augusto, began the process of registering the brand "Tonel de Minas," a name that has accompanied our cachaça since the beginning of our production.

2012

New direction

In late 2012, following his father Mr. Gláucio's passion for the brand, André Luís took over the direction of our distillery. Tonel de Minas embarked on a new path, while still honoring the tradition passed down through generations. The raw material for production was changed to a higher quality and more profitable sugarcane, which began to be cultivated in the fields of our farm.

2014

Progress

In 2014, significant expansions were made to our production facilities, and Tonel de Minas began utilizing two copper stills for production. This allowed us to operate in a more structured and modern environment, with increased storage space for the final product in barrels. Furthermore, there was a focus on specialized labor to further enhance our production process.

2018

New products

In 2018, remaining committed to the tradition of producing high-quality cachaças, Tonel de Minas embarked on a study for a new line of beverages. This line aimed to offer smooth and sweet flavors with distinctive tastes from our Brazil. Thus, the flavored cachaças were born, including banana, coffee, açaí, clove and cinnamon, and the Blue Uaice cachaça.

2019

Brand modernization

With the involvement of the third generation of the family, André Luís's children and Mr. Gláucio's grandchildren, Lucas and Laís, Tonel de Minas began a process of modernizing the entire visual identity of the brand in 2019, while still retaining our proud roots.

2020

New line

In 2020, aiming for a wider rage of tastes, Tonel de Minas added the cachaças in the versions of Relíquia, Ouro, and Prata to its product range. Our story doesn't end here. The dream of bringing the national tradition and the quality of our products to consumers is just beginning. With pride, dedication, and responsibility from our family to yours!
